Body contouring with hyaluronic acid

Stretch marks are treated with special peels or with the new Dermaroller method. In this case, a sterile device with numerous small needles is used, which stimulates collagen growth and performs a true dermabrasion of the affected area. Old stretch marks are extremely difficult to resolve. It is in any case always advisable to combine this with a local therapy using specific creams.

Mesotherapy and anti-cellulite treatments

Mesotherapy involves injecting specific products with fine needles to stimulate metabolism, promote tissue drainage, and treat cellulite fibrosis. Through multiple sessions spaced one to two weeks apart, the affected area is infiltrated with a cocktail of homeopathic and non-homeopathic drugs. These treatments are combined with a balanced diet and the use of products that further promote drainage and reduce imperfections, especially in the lower limbs.

Following protocols similar to mesotherapy, treatment with Phosphatidylcholine involves injecting a specific product with fine needles to resolve localized fat deposits through direct pharmacological action. All body areas with excess fatty tissue can be treated; the fat slowly dissolves and is reabsorbed by the body.

Sclerotherapy (capillary treatment)

Sclerotherapy involves injecting, with fine needles, drugs able to close the walls of small capillary vessels in the lower limbs. Several sessions are often needed because blood flow can recanalize vessels that appear closed. The treatment, performed with commercially available medications, is combined with the use of specific creams and supplements aimed at improving capillary and venous circulation.

Changes to body or facial contours can be achieved through numerous methods. As for the face, when a lipofilling procedure — which in any case requires surgery — is not desired, hyaluronic acid-based products with specific density and volume can be used to restore more or less extensive areas. The cheekbones, chin, or any other congenital or acquired irregularity can be treated. It remains essential for the doctor to consider the overall harmony of the face, avoiding distortions or excesses that could cause an unpleasant aesthetic effect.

Breast augmentation (breast enlargement with implants)

Breast augmentation is the surgical procedure that allows for breast enlargement through the insertion of a silicone implant. The size of the implant, and thus the extent of breast enlargement, is discussed with the surgeon at the pre-operative consultation, carefully considering factors such as breast size, chest size and the patient's body type, as well as, of course, personal preferences. Modern silicone implants are completely safe; the possible leakage of material that could be attributed to older implants has been practically eliminated thanks to the creation of a double waterproof shell around the silicone gel. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia at a properly equipped clinic. First, a small incision of about 5 cm is made, hidden in the inframammary fold or around the areola. Then, by detaching the mammary gland either above or below the pectoral muscle, depending on the need, a pocket suitable for housing the implant is prepared. This is then easily inserted and positioned to give volume and harmony to the breast. The deep tissues and skin are then sutured, leaving a drain in place to prevent any blood collection within the pocket. The overall duration of the procedure is about 1 hour. After the procedure, bed rest will be necessary for a few days, along with adherence to the prescribed medication (antibiotics and possibly painkillers). After a variable period of swelling, within 2-3 months the breast returns to its normal softness and natural appearance.

Mastopexy (breast lift)

In the presence of sagging breasts, sometimes due to significant weight loss or long periods of breastfeeding, this can be surgically corrected with Mastopexy. Through a series of skin incisions, the breast tissue is reshaped and the nipple area is moved higher up. If breast volume loss is also present, breast implants may be inserted at the same time. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia; the duration varies from one to two hours depending on the technique used, and requires a day-surgery stay or an overnight stay. Drains are sometimes placed and removed after one to two days, and dressing always involves the use of a supportive bra. The stitches are removed after 12-14 days, during which rest is recommended. The major drawback of this procedure is the scarring, often not optimal, which must always be thoroughly explained and detailed to the patient.

Abdominoplasty

In the presence of a relaxed abdomen, with excess fatty and skin tissue, as occurs following abdominal surgery, cesarean sections, pregnancies, or sudden weight loss, this excess must be surgically reduced with Abdominoplasty. Through a low incision at pubic level, the abdominal skin is detached up to the costal arches and repositioned downward, removing the excess. In cases that require it, any weakness of the muscular wall is also corrected. The procedure, performed under general anesthesia, lasts about two hours and requires a hospital stay of at least one night. In milder cases it can be performed as day surgery. Drains are usually placed and removed after one to two days, and dressing always involves the use of a supportive abdominal binder. The stitches are removed after about 12-14 days, during which rest is recommended. A scar of varying length always remains, visible in the lower abdominal region.

Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty)

Localized accumulations of body fat, resistant to diet and exercise, can be permanently eliminated through Liposuction or Liposculpture, a closed body-contouring technique. It can be performed on any area, but the areas where it is most frequently practiced are the hips, thighs, knees, abdomen, and submental region. The amount of fat that can be removed is limited and determined case by case by the surgeon, based on the individual patient's characteristics. The procedure can, however, be repeated. It leaves minimal skin scars (a few millimeters), placed along natural skin creases and therefore destined to become barely visible. However, any stretch marks or subcutaneous irregularities are not easily corrected with this procedure. The type of anesthesia, hospital stay, frequency and type of dressings, and timing of stitch removal depend on the individual clinical case and the technique used. The result, although appreciable from the very first days, becomes evident in no less than two months and is set to improve further with a proper diet, toning physical activity, and lymphatic drainage massages on the treated areas.

The enlargement of the mammary gland in men leads to the unaesthetic condition known as Gynecomastia. It is due to endocrinological or hereditary factors and often causes psychological problems. Sometimes it is not the gland that has increased in volume but exclusively the fatty tissue. Only a breast ultrasound can reliably assess whether the fatty or glandular component predominates, thus guiding the choice between one treatment or the other. Surgical correction is achieved either through simple liposuction of the excess fat where there is a fatty buildup, or through a surgical incision in cases where there is an actual increase in the gland. These two approaches, which can in any case be combined, involve some variability in planning the hospital stay, which can be day surgery or an overnight stay, and in the subsequent recovery.

When breast volume is increased to the point of interfering with social life and causing physical discomfort such as back pain or recurring dermatitis in the inframammary fold, this excess can be surgically reduced with breast reduction surgery. Through a series of skin incisions, breast tissue is removed and the nipple area is repositioned higher up. The procedure, performed under general anesthesia, lasts about two to three hours and requires a hospital stay of at least one night. Drains are usually placed and removed after one to two days, and dressing always involves the use of a supportive bra. The stitches are removed after about 14 days, during which rest is recommended. Unfortunately the scars are quite visible and must always be clearly explained to the patient.

Body contouring with “lipofilling”

Arm and thigh lift

Liposuction can be combined with a “lipofilling” procedure: the fat removed is purified and prepared for reimplantation, and is then immediately inserted into the body areas whose volume is to be increased. It is a procedure suitable for filling facial wrinkles, where it ensures a longer duration than hyaluronic acid, or depressed areas of the body, where it allows asymmetries or defects to be corrected naturally, without the use of prosthetic materials. One's own fat is generally very well tolerated by the body and does not cause rejection, although in some cases it can create an inflammatory reaction. It has strong reconstructive and functional value in cases where one wishes to restore a body area affected by congenital defects or that has suffered traumatic injuries or demolitive surgery in the case of tumors. Unfortunately it is limited by the availability of the patient's own body fat, but it can nonetheless be repeated.

The thigh lift is a procedure that, by removing excess skin, lifts and tightens the skin on the inner thigh area. It is usually performed on patients who have undergone significant weight loss and therefore have excess sagging skin. It can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, and is a functional procedure that restores a more toned appearance to the inner thigh. It can be combined with liposuction where fat is predominant. The resulting scars run along the underwear line and are therefore easily hidden. The arm lift is a procedure that, by removing excess skin, reduces the width and circumference of the arms. It is usually performed on patients who have undergone significant weight loss and therefore have excess skin in the arm area. The result is satisfactory from the very first days, although altered by the inevitable post-operative swelling and, unfortunately, burdened by scars that are not always optimal.
